AlfredKern'scareercametoaclimaxin1981withthe (re)constructionofthegreatorganofStrasbourgCathedral,inthe historic case of 1491.Hewasthensucceededbyhisson,DanielKern(1950-2019)and hissonOlivierKern.Itwasafruitfulcollaborationthatresultedin the construction of numerous organs in Japan, Russia and Europe. In2002,theDanielKernOrganFactorymergedwiththatofhis great-nephewGastonKern,whohadsettledinHattmat,whenhe retired.ThiscompanyspecializedintherestorationofSilbermann organs. Unfortunately,Kerncloseditsdoorsin2015duetobankruptcy, mainly due to non-payment of its creditors. Daniel Kern passed away on August 15, 2019.
