Fossaert
(*1960)
began
studying
musicology
at
Paris-Sorbonne
but
quickly
reoriented
himself
towards
organ
building
on
the
advice
of
André
Isoir.
He
then
trained
for
ten
years
under
the
direction
of
organbuilders
Gérald
Guillemin
(obtaining
the
diploma
of
Brevet
de
Compagnon-Facteur-d'Orgues
from
the
Chamber
of
Trades
and
Crafts
of
Alsace
in
1984)
and
then
Jean-François
Muno.
He
joined
the
workshop
of
Luxembourg
builder
Georg
Westenfelder
before
settling
in
Seine-et-Marne
in
1989.
From
1999
to
2001,
he
was
president
of
the
Professional
Group
of
French
Organ
Builders
(GPFO)
and
organized
its
affiliation
within
UNIFA.
In
2003,
he
was
awarded
the
title
of
master
craftsman
and
sponsored
the
2004-2007
class
of
apprentices
at
the
CNFA
in
Eschau.
He
runs
a
workshop
of
6
to
8
Companions,
including
two
pipemakers.
He
is
particularly
dedicated to design and harmony.
The
Yves
Fossaert
Organ
Factory
was
awarded
the
"Entreprise
du
Patrimoine
Vivant"
label
in
2006,
which
was
renewed
in
2011.
It
has
built
about
thirty
instruments
and
restored many others.
The
last
work
of
Fossaert,
who
retired
in
2024,
was
the
restauration
of
the
organ
of
the
l’auditorium
du
CRR
de
Saint-Maur-des-Fossés.

Yves
Fossaert
